Unlock the Secrets of Pilates: Your Curiosities Answered

Whether you’re new to Pilates or a seasoned enthusiast, you might have some questions about our classes, equipment, or practices.

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a low-impact exercise method that focuses on strengthening muscles while improving postural alignment and flexibility. It emphasizes core strength, stability, and controlled movements to promote overall body awareness

What is a Reformer?

A Reformer is a versatile Pilates machine with a sliding carriage, springs, and straps designed to help you build strength, flexibility, and balance. Whether lying down, sitting, or standing, the Reformer provides a smooth, supported way to challenge your body and improve core stability.

Do I need prior experience to join a class?

No prior experience is necessary! We offer classes for all levels, from complete beginners to advanced practitioners. Our instructors are trained to modify exercises to suit individual needs and abilities.

What should I wear to a Pilates class?

Wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing that allows for a full range of motion. We recommend avoiding loose clothing, as it can get caught in the equipment. Grip socks are mandatory.

How many classes should I take each week?

For optimal results, we recommend attending 2-3 classes per week. However, individual preferences may vary. It's important to listen to your body and allow for rest and recovery as needed.

What should I bring to class?

Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated, a towel for comfort if you need one, and a positive attitude! We provide all necessary equipment, including mats, Reformers, and props.

Can I join a class if I have an injury or medical condition?

Yes, but please consult your physician before starting any exercise program. Inform your instructor about any injuries or conditions prior to class, so they can provide appropriate modifications and ensure your safety.

How do I sign up for a class?

You can sign up for classes online through our website, via our mobile app, or at the studio. We recommend reserving your spot in advance, as classes can fill up quickly.

Do you work with weights?

Yes, we incorporate ergonomic dumbbells, Pilates rings, and resistance bands, depending on your fitness level. These tools are used to enhance strength, endurance, and control in a safe, progressive way.

Do you offer any beginner-friendly classes?

Yes, we have beginner classes specifically designed to introduce newcomers to the fundamentals of Pilates. These classes focus on proper form, basic exercises, and foundational movements.

What is your cancellation policy?

We have a 12 hours cancelation policy for all class reservations. If you need to cancel, please do so within the 12 hours time frame to avoid being charged for the class.

Are there any membership or package options?

Yes, we offer various membership plans and class packages to suit different needs and budgets. Check our website for detailed information about pricing and options.

Can I bring a friend to class?

Absolutely! We encourage you to share the experience. If you bring a friend to class, you’ll both enjoy a special bonus: you’ll receive two free classes! It’s a great way to introduce a friend to Pilates and keep each other motivated.

I’m pregnant. Can I participate in a Pilates class?

Yes, Pilates can be highly beneficial during pregnancy, but we recommend that pregnant women take private or semi-private sessions. These personalized classes allow the instructor to tailor exercises to your specific needs, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience at every stage of pregnancy.

Is parking available?

Yes! We have free parking available behind the studio for your convenience.

What is the difference between group classes and private sessions?

Group classes are designed for multiple participants and focus on general exercise routines, while private sessions offer individualized attention tailored to your specific needs, goals, and fitness level.

What if I miss or can't attend my class?

If you need to cancel a class at Backstage Pilates, please do so online at least 12 hours prior to a group class and 24 hours before a private session. Cancelling later than these times will result in no refund for your credit.

If you must make a late cancellation, please do it online to allow someone on the waitlist to take your spot. We appreciate your understanding!

How does pricing work for semi-private classes?

The price for a semi-private class is the same as a private session, but to book, you and a friend (or partner) must come together. This setup allows you to enjoy personalized instruction at a shared rate, creating a tailored experience for both of you.
